Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 3/27/23. The provider was present with 11 children and two assistants, a total of 42 points. The provider only cares for infants and toddlers and the space is set up to accommodate that age group. Observed lunch and getting ready for nap and nap time. Lots of interaction between caregivers and children.

Standard 22.1-289.035-A
Based on the review of three staff records, the provider failed to get the required subsequent background checks.
Evidence: The providers criminal records check expired on 3/26/23. The provider CPS check expired on 8/8/2021. No subsequent checks have been done.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure I do the background checks, I was confused and thought the fingerprints included everything.
I was going to do the fingerprints again this week.

Based on the review of three staff records the provider failed to get subsequent background checks for a household member.
Evidence: The household member has a criminal records check that expired on 3/26/23 and a cps check that expired on 11/01/21. No subsequent checks have been conducted
Plan of Correction: I will make sure I do the background checks, I was confused and thought the fingerprints included everything. We are doing fingerprints this week.
Standard 8VAC20-770-40-D-1-b
Based on the review of the providers records, the provider failed to get a CPS check done for an assistant .
Evidence: The provider did not get a CPS check for staff 3 at the time of the beginning of the staffs employment. The staff has been at the home since May 2022.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure I do the background checks, I was confused and thought the fingerprints included everything.
