Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was completed on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the center. There were 33 children present, ranging in ages from infancy to school age, with 8 staff supervising and 2 administrator. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on review of documents and interview, the center did not ensure an annual approval from the health department be provided.

Evidence: During the inspection on March 17, 2023, health inspection was dated 06/15/2021. Interview with staff confirmed this was the most recent health inspection available for review.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, the center did not ensure all hazardous substances were kept locked in a place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: In the main office areas where school aged children were observed in care, there were multiple disinfectant and air freshener observed unlocked with the labels "keep out of reach of children" and "caution" under the desk on the floor accessible to children in care.
Plan of Correction: The center removed hazardous substances immediately during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-40-M
Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure to maintain a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions which is dated and kept confidential in each room or area where children are present.

Evidence: During the inspection on March 17, 2023, there was observation of the allergy list not date. Interview with the staff confirmed the list not being dated.
Plan of Correction: The center will reprint allergy list and make sure it is dated.
