Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider and one assistant caregiver were caring for 8 children, totaling 19 points. The children were finishing lunch and preparing for nap during this inspection. Earlier in the day the children had enjoyed circle time, playing outside, engaging in creative play, coloring pictures, and playing with table top manipulatives. The children were served hot dogs, chicken noodle soup, french fries, bananas, and milk for lunch today.

The Inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administrative records, emergency preparedness, children's nutrition, the physical plant, caregiver training, children's records, caregiver records, health records, and programming.

Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at sandra.dimperio@doe.virginia.gov

Violations

2
Standard 8VAC20-800-180-A
Based on a review of caregiver health records, it was determined the provider did not obtain for each caregiver a current Report of Tuberculosis Screening every two years from the date of the first screening.
Evidence;
1 - The TB Screening for caregiver A expired on 2/5/2022.
2 - The TB Screening for caregiver B expired on 1/15/2022.
Plan of Correction: Both caregivers will get a new TB screening this weekend.
Standard 8VAC20-800-900-A
Based on caregiver interviews, it was determined that the provider did not prepare one food item in a way to assist in preventing choking.
Evidence;
The three and four year old children were served hot dogs for lunch today. It was reported that the hot dogs were cut in the middle but they were not cut lengthwise in order to reduce the risk of choking.
Plan of Correction: I will no longer serve hot dogs. I will remove them from my menu immediately.
