Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 12/14/2021 with an exit interview on 12/15/2021. There were 32 children present, with four staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care provisions and emergencies and special services. A total of three child records and three staff records were reviewed and in compliance.

Standard 22VAC40-185-510-J
Based on observation, and an interview, not all medication was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: the medication was observed in an unlocked cabinet in the office area.
Plan of Correction: Owner stated they will obtain a locking storage device for the medication.
Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, not all hazardous substances were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: there was a can of Lysol spray sitting on a paper towel holder in one bathroom and Lysol disinfecting wipes in an unlocked cabinet in a second bathroom.
Plan of Correction: Hazardous substances were moved during the inspection.
Standard 8VAC20-780-550-D
Based on review of documentation, and an interview, the center failed to implement a monthly practice evacuation drill and a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills each year. Evidence: the last documented evacuation drill was dated: 10/5/2021. There was no documentation of a shelter-in-place drill in 2020 or 2021.
Plan of Correction: Owner stated they will conduct and document all required drills.
