Yes

Areas Reviewed

8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Inspector Notes

An unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 3/30/23 from 9:15am to 10:15am in conjunction with a renewal inspection (see that inspection report for details). The two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Three caregiver records were reviewed for documentation of the mandatory Virginia Preservice Training, Health & Safety Update training, and current certification in First Aid and CPR. The last lockdown drill was documented on 8/22/22. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Laura Brindle, at laura.brindle@doe.virginia.gov or 540-905-2062.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-790-250-B
Based on review of three caregiver records and interview, the provider did not ensure that all caregivers completed the required Virginia Preservice Training within the first 90 days of employment or service. Evidence: The provider reported that Caregiver B has started, but not completed, Preservice training and the caregiver began assisting in the family day home in 2022.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure the caregiver completes the training by the end of April.
