Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring/renewal inspection was conducted on 8/5/2022 at 10:45am. There were 10 children directly supervised by 2 staff. The child care area, 4 staff records, 3 children?s records, 2 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing outside. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for children. The home was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-800-120-C
Based on record review, substitute provider records did not also contain documentation of the time of arrivals and departures as required by 8VAC20-800-140 D.
Evidence:
On the date of inspection the provider was not present and the substitute provider was assuming the role of primary caregiver. There was no documentation present to document the times when the substitute provider was assuming the role of the provider.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure that my substitute provider writes the time when they come and leave.
Standard 8VAC20-800-240-A
Based on observation, areas of the family day home were not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
1. Artificial turf in the outside play area was overlapping and folded in areas creating a tripping hazard.
2. Artificial turf on the stairs leading to the downstairs child care area was observed completely peeling off of the riser creating a tripping hazard.
Plan of Correction: Artificial turf is already fixed by putting a new carpet, and appropriately glued down.
Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances were not kept in an area inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
Liquid bleach was observed on a low shelf in the laundry room adjacent to the child care area. The door to the laundry room was open at the time of inspection.
Plan of Correction: The kids are not allowed to go to the laundry room, when they are in the daycare they were not
in the room when it was open. When the kids are in the play area it is locked and closed.
Standard 8VAC20-800-530-B
Based on observation, cribs used by infants did not have a tight fitting bottom cover.
Evidence:
Three cribs were observed with loos fitting bottom covers.
Plan of Correction: I have replaced the loose fitting bottom covers to fit appropriately.
