8VAC20-790 Subsidy Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 5/3/2023 from 9:50 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. There were 35 children present with six staff providing supervision. The ages of the children ranged from 18 months to 5 years. The children were observed singing, dancing, reading, coloring and engaging in circle time activities. Handwashing was also observed. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, attendance, menus, 3 staff records, 3 children?s records, emergency drills, injury reports and emergency supplies were reviewed. Two medications, allergy care plans and medication documentation were reviewed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training, (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
