8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 07/28/2023 from 10:55am to 1:55pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 19 children ages 15 months to age 5 years old supervised by 8 staff. The physical plant, programming, attendance, menus, 7 staff records, 5 children?s records, 2 medications with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in group play, reading and outside play. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT) and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
