Inspector Notes

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection was initiated on 08/16/2022 and was concluded on 8/18/2022. There were 48 children present, ranging in ages from 4 months to 5 years old, with 15 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all the subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Violations were found during the subsidy health and safety inspection and are identified on the violation notice.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on review of records and interview, the center failed to ensure that all staff members had current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within 90 days of hire.
Evidence:
1. Staff #7?s start date was 1/31/22. There was no record of CPR certification on file.
2. Staff #6?s start date was 2/24/22. There was no record of CPR certification on file.
3. Staff #9 confirmed that neither staff member had completed CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
Plan of Correction: Admin will ensure that CPR/First Aid is completed within 90 days of hire. COA has a CPR/First Aid orientation within the first week of training that is presented to the employees.
