Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on August 27, 2021 and concluded on September 1, 2021. There were 51 children present with eight staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of staff records, The center did not ensure staff completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval.

Evidence:

1. The record for staff #3, hired 02/15/2021, did not have documentation of completion for the Virginia preservice training, exceeding the required time frame.
2. The administrator stated staff #3 had completed the training however she did not have documentation of the training.
Plan of Correction: Per the administrator: I will have the staff provide documentation of the training certificate for the record.
