8VAC20-780 STAFFING AND SUPERVISION.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced complaint inspection was initiated in the center on November 16, 2023 from 8:05 AM until 9:06 AM and completed November 22, 2023 regarding concerns of Staffing/ Supervision. There were observations of parent drop off, children playing outside, children resting and preparing to get in the school bus. During the inspection the following were completed: interviews with administrative staff, center staff, a review of records/documentation and observation of the classrooms.
The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does not support the allegation related to Supervision, therefore, the complaint is determined to be NOT valid.

An area of non compliance, not complaint related was cited in the area of Administration.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-80-A
Based on documentation review and provider interview the licensee did not ensure that for each group of children, the center shall maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.

Evidence: There was not an attendance for the school age children, who were outside waiting for the bus, the children in the two?s room and the children in the toddler room.
Plan of Correction: The Director in addition to normal sign in procedures created a 2nd sign-in system .Staff members will mark the time that children left morning rest time to leave for school or the time they went to assigned classrooms
