During the inspection, the inspector reviewed the areas listed above, to include standards found out of compliance during the previous inspection. Unless otherwise noted as a violation within this inspection report, the provider was in compliance with the standards reviewed. If there were any serious injuries or fatalities related to a violation, the details will be included in the description of the violation.

Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated and completed on February 3, 2025. The on-site inspection began at 10:30am and ended at 1pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 28 children present and 7 staff. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records on-site on February 3, 2025. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-210-A
Program leaders shall be at least 18 years of age, have fulfilled a high school program completion or the equivalent, have six months of programmatic experience and documentation of 24 hours of training related to the care of children. Staff #3 has a bachelor's degree however it is not in a child-related field. Staff met three of the four requirements as they did not have documentation of 24 hours of training related to the care of children.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The center will ensure that Staff #3 has the required 24 hours of training documentation to meet the requirements as a program leader.
Standard 8VAC20-780-350-B-1
Children from ages birth up to 16 months shall be in the ratio of one staff member to four children. Child #1 (age 13 months) was in the toddler room and the ratio was one teacher to six children.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The youngest child was moved to the infant room to stay in ratio. The center will speak to staff about staying in ratio and move children in appropriate rooms when needed. The center also has 2 pending new staff members to help elevate any ratio issues and are waiting on their background check results.
Standard 8VAC20-780-560-L
Staff shall sit with children during meal times. Staff in the toddler and 2 year old classrooms were not sitting with the children during lunchtime.
Plan of Correction: The center responded with the following: The director prompted the staff to sit with the children. The center will ensure that staff will sit with children while eating and will utilize floater staff or other staff with other classroom tasks.
