Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A code compliance inspection was initiated and concluded on May 4, 2021. The staff person in charge was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 16 children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the staff person in charge a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on record review, in one of three staff records reviewed, the center did not ensure to obtain a copy of the results of a sex offender registry check and a search of the child abuse and neglect registry or equivalent registry from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.

Evidence: The staff person in charge confirmed that there were no results of an out of state sex offender registry check or results of an out of state search of the child abuse and neglect registry for Staff #1 who indicated on the sworn statement as to living outside of the state of Virginia within the last five years.
Plan of Correction: The staff person in charge conducted the out of state sex offender check today and forwarded results to the licensing inspector. The staff person in charge has contacted the state to initiate the out of state Central Registry search and will provide the results once received.
