Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:20 am to 10:30 am. There were 9 children (25 points) with 4 caregivers. The children were observed playing with toys, listening to a story, diapering and eating morning snack. Handwashing was observed prior to eating snack which included apples and crackers. 3 children's records, 4 caregiver's records, 1 household member record, attendance, the emergency plan, emergency drill log and first aid kit was reviewed. Based on records review, the provider did not have a current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Evidence: The provider's most recent CPR certification expired on 8/25/23.
Plan of Correction: In person training has been scheduled for the provider and all assistants on 9/30/23.

Based on record review, the provider did not have a current certification in First Aid.

Based on observation, cleaning agents were not stored away from food and were accessible to children.
Evidence: One large bottle of bleach and one spray bottle of a cleaning agent was found sitting on the daycare's kitchen counter.
Plan of Correction: The cleaning agents were removed during the inspection.

(REPEAT VIOLATION)
Based on observation, small electrical appliances were not unplugged while not in use.
Evidence: One electric kettle and one toaster was found to be plugged in while not in use in the daycare kitchen.
Plan of Correction: The appliances were unplugged during the inspection.

Based on observation, equipment and materials used by children were not age appropriate to the age of the children.
Evidence: 4 children under the age of 2 years were observed playing with a toy that is recommended for children 2 years and up, as it has small parts that could pose a choking hazard.
Plan of Correction: The toy was removed during the inspection.

Evidence: The written documentation on the emergency plan showed it was last updated on 7/26/22.
