Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 6/10/22 from 10:20 am to 12:20 pm. There were 32 children ranging in ages from 9 months to 5 years. Seven staff were observed supervising the children. During the Inspection, the Licensing Inspectors observed the physical plant, outdoor play area, programming, menus, 5 staff and 4 children's records, 7 medications for 5 children, escape drills, injury/accident reports and emergency supplies.
Children were observed washing hands, reading books, playing outside. There was positive floor play between the infants and the staff.
The health inspection was dated 2/28/22 and the fire inspection was dated 2/23/22

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation, hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place to prevent access by children.
Evidence:
1. The laundry room's door in the hallway was unlocked and bleach and detergent were stored inside.
2. Two containers of commercial paint were stored on the floor in the resource room , the paint was accessible to children.
Plan of Correction: Chemicals were removed during the inspection, laundry room and resource room were locked.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, it was determined that a diapering surface was not nonabsorbent and the diapering surface was used for more than diapering and cleaning the children.
Evidence:
The diapering pad in the toddler classroom was cracked and peeling and was no longer an nonabsorbent surface.

Artwork and toys were stored on the diapering pad in the two year old classroom.
Plan of Correction: The pad was replaced during the inspection and the art work and toys were removed from the diapering pad.
