Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the new director, who was present with 37 children with 7 staff providing supervision. The inspection took place from 12:05 to 2:10 pm with additional record information provided later in the day.

The infants were awake and active during the walkthrough; however, most of the older children were on their cots for naptime. Staff reported that the children were provided turkey and cheese sandwiches, green beans, pear and milk for their lunch.

A sample size of 8 injuries/accident were reviewed as well as medications for 6 children. Five children and four staff files were reviewed today as well. The most recent fire inspection is dated 2/23/22 and the health inspection is dated 2/28/22.

The area of non-compliance is outlined on the violation notice.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Based on a review of children's files and interview with the director, it was determined that one child with diagnosed food allergies did not have a written care plan from a physician regarding the foods the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence:
Child A's diagnosed food allergies are walnuts, cashews and almonds. There was no written care plan on file.
Plan of Correction: I will obtain a written care plan from the child's physician.
