Based on interviews, it was determined that the center is not maintaining the 1:5 ratio of staff to children in the toddler classroom. The ages of the children in this room ranges from 16 to 24 months.
Evidence:
Interviews revealed that for approximately the last five months, one staff is routinely alone with 6 to 7 toddlers anywhere from10 to 45 minutes during the morning from 7:45 am to 8:30 am. On 2/27/23, interviews revealed that the toddler classroom had one staff with 7 toddlers from 8 am to 8:45 am.

Plan of Correction: On the morning of 2/27/23, 4 staff unexpectedly called out of work. At that time, all available staff members entered classrooms to cover ratio. At 8:11am, the toddler classroom had a 6th child arrive. An additional staff member arrived in the classroom at 8:45am. Staff and management will continue to communicate during morning arrivals to ensure that another staff member is present if they are about to be out of ratio. We will also continue to schedule more staff members during morning hours to appropriately meet ratio. We will not accept additional children if they put the classroom out of ratio, until we can get additional staff on site. In addition, we will continue to remind staff to notify us in a timely manner if they are unable to come to work or will arrive late, so that we can modify schedules of others to meet ratio.
