22.1 Early Childhood Care and Education

Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 11:35 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with the director. There were 48 children in care ranging in age from9 months through 11 years old under the care and supervision of 9 staff. Children were observed during lunch, during transition time to bathroom and preparing for nap, during nap and resting. Infants were observed sleeping and being fed.

Classrooms, supplies and materials were observed. Six children's records and five staff records were reviewed. No medications on site during the inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on review of documentation, the center did not have documentation of program director qualifications. Evidence: Staff #1's record did not have documentation of the education and experience for the position assigned.

Based on observation, not all areas of the center were maintained in safe condition. Evidence: In the Prek class, the right toilet has a screw at the base that extends more than seven thread lengths and is an impalement and scratch hazard.
