Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 11 children present (32 points) with 3 caregivers.
3 child and 5 caregiver/household records were reviewed. All were compete.
Children were observed during diapering, washing hands, eating lunch and preparing for rest.
The menu, fridge/freezer temperatures, crib spacing, emergency supplies, first aid supplies, first aid /CPR certifications and the fire extinguisher were all in compliance.

Standard 8VAC20-800-540-A
Based on observation, an infant swing occupied by a child did not have the safety strap used and securely fastened.
Evidence:
One infant was observed in an infant swing with the safety strap not fastened.
Plan of Correction: The strap was fastened immediately, and staff reminded to use the straps.
Standard 8VAC20-800-830-C
Based on a review of records, documentation was not maintained of emergency evacuation drills.
Evidence:
Emergency evacuation drills have not been documented since July 2022.
Plan of Correction: Drills will be documented as they are completed.
Standard 8VAC20-800-960-C
Based on observation high chairs with a safety waist and crotch straps in use did not have the straps fastened.
Evidence:
5 children were observed in high chairs with no safety strap fastened.
Plan of Correction: Staff were immediately reminded to fasten the safety straps.
