Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 05/18/2021 and was conducted on 05/19/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 11 children and 4 staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records during the inspection to ensure documentation was complete. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with subsidy regulations, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on record review and discussion with the staff, the vendor failed to ensure that staff who work directly with children shall complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff with the first 90 days of employment.

Evidence: The record for Staff #2 had a documented hire date of 07/20/2018. Staff #2 has not completed the Virginia Preservice Training.
Plan of Correction: Will ensure the training is completed.
