Inspector Notes

On March 2, 2022, the inspector received a complaint from and incident that occurred the previous Thursday, regarding the infants care at the center. The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced complaint inspection from 1:20 pm until 2:23 pm. While on-site, interviews with the staff were conducted and observations were made. Based on the information gathered during the investigation, the preponderance of evidence supports the allegation that children under the age of 2, were allowed to sleep with large blankets in their cribs. Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that annual training will be relevant to staff's job responsibilities and the care of children and should include topics such as prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and use of safe sleep practices.

Evidence:
Caregiver's allowed the use of blankets in cribs with sleeping children.
Plan of Correction: During our next staff training day, safe sleep and safe sleep practices will be covered for all staff. Staff will sign in as documentation of attendance and documentation will be place in staff record.

In addition, additional training will provided in-house in a small group setting for Infant Teacher/Toddler Teachers. Teachers will sign in as documentation of attendance and will be placed in staff records.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that comforter's blankets and pillows should not be used by children under two years of age.

Evidence:
Children were observed sleeping in cribs with large blankets.
Plan of Correction: The school sent home all blankets on the day of the investigation, Parent's were also provided information and documentation regarding safe sleep and safe sleep practices in a day care facility.
