Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 11/09/2021 and concluded on 11/10/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 88 children present, ranging in ages from 2 to 5, with 13 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, special care provisions and emergencies, special services, and background checks. A total of 5 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on record review, the center did not obtain a copy of the results of a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years for 1 of 4 staff.

Evidence:
1. Documentation in the record for Staff #1 (hire date 07/16/2021) indicated they lived in Maryland within the past 5 years.
2. The record for Staff #1 did not contain documentation of the results of a sex offender registry check for the state of Maryland.
Plan of Correction: The center completed the required sex offender registry check and provided the results to the Department.
