Inspector Notes

The Licensing Inspector conducted an unannounced Subsidy Health and Safety inspection (SHSI) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 fromapproximately 9:35am to 11:30am. There were nine children in attendance and a total of three staff directly supervising. During the inspection, the children and staff were observed participating in a variety of activities. Staff were observed having positive interactions with the children. All areas of the facility including classrooms, kitchen, hallways, playgrounds, and bathrooms were inspected. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed.

A code compliance inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the
program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-B
Based on a review of five staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure one staff, who works directly with children, completed the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment.

Evidence: 1) The Virginia Preservice Training certificate in the record for Staff #2, employed 07/22/21, was dated 03/28/22. 2) During interview, management confirmed the training was completed more than 90 days after employment.
Plan of Correction: In the future, management will set a notification on computer calendar to remind them when the training is due.
Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on a review of five staff records, the vendor did not ensure one staff had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within the required timeframe.

Evidence: The CPR certification in the record for Staff #2, employed 07/22/21, was completed on 02/12/22. All staff who work directly with children should have within 90 days of the date of employment current certification in CPR.
