Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and an interview with staff.

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 9/13/2021 with an exit interview on 9/23/2021. The child care manager was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 23 children present, with one staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, staffing and supervision, and special care provisions and emergencies. A total of two child records and one staff record were reviewed.

The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and one violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 22VAC40-185-340-C
Based on review of documentation, and an interview with staff, the facility failed to have a second staff member or volunteer on the premises when one or more children are present. Evidence: from August 9, 2021 to approximately September 13, 2021, between the hours of 6:00 am - 7:30 am, and 2:30 pm - 3:10 pm, there was only one staff person regularly scheduled to work. There were approximately 2-23 school age children in attendance during these days/hours.
Plan of Correction: Staff stated they will ensure that a second staff person is scheduled to work at this facility.
