Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 05/07/2024. There were 84 children present and 15 staff. A tour of the facility was conducted, in addition to a record review and interviews with staff. The Inspector reviewed both children?s and staff records, along with any requested program records submitted by the facility to determine if required documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Based on observation the center did not ensure all areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a safe condition.
Evidence: the flooring in bathroom #2 was soft and cracked around the toilet.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the center via email:
"A work order was submitted on 5.7.24 and escalated to repair tile. "
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation the center did not ensure all staff washed their hands after diapering.
Evidence
A staff in the infant room was observed changing a child's diaper and then washing the hands of the child and her own. The staff then picked-up the child's soiled diaper that was on the changing table, discarded it and proceeded to open a cabinet and gather cleaning supplies, without washing her hands.
Plan of Correction: The following corrective action was provided by the center via email:
"re-train staff member on proper handwashing was completed on 5/7/24. Management will observe classrooms to ensure proper handwashing of staff members. Infant classrooms will be observed daily for the next 3 weeks to ensure proper handwashing procedures are implemented."
