Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
In an infant classroom, sanitizing spray was found hanging on a bathroom door. The spray was not locked, as required.
Plan of Correction: Sanitizing Bottles were locked away during visit. Staff members were re-trained on proper storage of chemicals when not in use on 2.6.26.
Standard 8VAC20-780-510-P
When an authorization for medication expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication
needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization. Medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days will be disposed of by the center. There was one medication reviewed that had an expired medication authorization; however, the medication was not picked up within 14 days or disposed of.
Plan of Correction: The medication was sent home during the visit. Safety Captain will review Medication Monthly, as well as a member of management to ensure all medication are kept up to date.

Each first aid kit shall be easily accessible to staff but not to children.
A first aid kit was sitting on top of a play kitchen set in a toddler classroom. The first aid kit was accessible to the children in care.
Plan of Correction: First Aid Kit was put out of reach during the licensing visit. Staff members were re-trained on ensuring all first bags are out of reach of children on 2.6.26.
