Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, document review and a virtual tour of the program.

A virtual monitoring inspection was conducted on 02/09/2022 and concluded with a virtual record review on 02/10/2022. There were no children in care during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and training, special care provisions and emergencies, nutrition and background checks. A total of 2 children?s records and 2 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Standard 8VAC20-780-200-A
Based on record review and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that a qualified program director shall regularly be on site at least 50% of the center?s hours of operation.

Evidence: Staff 1 is the designated program director. Staff 1 does not meet the program director qualification.
Plan of Correction: Will discuss with management.
Standard 8VAC20-780-340-I
Based on discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that staff shall greet each child upon arrival at the center.

Evidence:
1. Staff 1 stated that children arrive to the center via public school transportation between 3:00-3:30 each day. Upon their arrival to the center the children exit the public school bus and proceed to the locked front door of the school to be let into by the school secretary. Once inside the school the children proceed down the hallway of the school to meet the center staff and other children.
2. There is not a center staff member positioned to greet the children upon their arrival to the center.
Plan of Correction: Will discuss with management.
Standard 8VAC20-780-60-A
Based on record review and discussion with staff, the center failed to ensure that the separate record for each child enrolled contains all of the elements as required by the standards.

Evidence:
1. The record for Child 1 did not contain the following information: first date of attendance; and documentation of health information as required by 8VAC20-780-140-A.
2. The record for Child 2 did not contain the following information: first date of attendance.
Plan of Correction: Will add the information and get information from parents.
