Inspector Notes

A renewal inspection was conducted today between 10:45am and 12:15pm. There were 15 children present, with 3 caregivers supervising. A total of 6 child records and 3 caregiver records were reviewed. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-800-30-A
Based on observation, the provider did not ensure compliance with the standards and terms of the current license issued by the department.
Evidence
The provider did not comply with the terms of the current license issued by the department.
Provider had 15 children in care when inspector arrived. Provider is licensed to care for a total of 12 children. Provider was over capacity by 3 children. Provider was told to reduce her capacity by 3 immediately.
Plan of Correction: I will call parents and have 3 children removed immediately.
Going forward I will not have more than 12 children in care at any one time.
Standard 8VAC20-800-540-B
Based on observation, infant walkers were accessible to children on the outside play area.
Evidence
On the cement area of the playground two infant walkers were accessible to the children.
Plan of Correction: I will remove the walkers today.
Standard 8VAC20-800-60-A
Based on review of children's records, the provider did not maintain an up to date record for each enrolled child.
Evidence
Child #1 did not have a record available for review.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure to always have a complete record for all children in enrolled.
This child was just here for today, there was an emergency.

Based on review of emergency supplies, an emergency flashlight were not kept in a designated area and available to caregivers at all times.
Evidence
A working battery operated flashlight was not kept in a designated area or available to caregivers at all times.
Plan of Correction: The flashlight is upstairs, I will make sure it is put with the other emergency supplies.
