Trampolines shall not be used during the hours children are in care. The outdoor playground has three small trampolines, and three preschool children were observed bouncing on them.
Plan of Correction: The provider thought that smaller trampolines were acceptable, however she is now aware that they cannot be used while children are in care. The trampolines were removed from the outdoor playground and will be given away to other families.
Standard 8VAC20-800-560-B
Caregivers shall actively supervise each child during outdoor play to minimize the risk of injury to a child. Staff #1 was observed looking down at her phone while 3 preschool aged children were playing outdoors behind her not in her view.
Plan of Correction: The provider will speak with Staff #1 and re-train all staff members on the importance of supervision and actively supervising when outdoors. The cell phone policy will strictly be enforced that when caring for children, they cannot be on their personal cell phones.
