Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 6/6/2023.? There were 43 children present with 9 staff supervising and 2 administrators. The children were observed during center time, outside time, and the start of lunch time. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 10:40 am and concluded at 12:10 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure the diapering surface shall be used only for diapering or cleaning children.
Evidence: The diaper pad in the Pre-Toddler room was observed during inspection with a plastic tray sitting on the diaper pad. The director confirmed that a plastic tray was placed directly on the diapering surface.
Plan of Correction: Remind staff to not rest any object on diapering surface.
Standard 8VAC20-780-570-E
Based on observation and staff interview, the licensee did not ensure that prepared infant formula shall be refrigerated, dated and labeled with the child?s name.
Evidence: In the infant room there were 2 bottles labeled with the name of child #6 but they were not dated. The director confirmed the bottles did belong to child #6 and were not dated.
Plan of Correction: Discuss with staff importance of dates. Daily reminder to check dates on bottles hung in classroom.
