Inspector Notes

An inspection was conducted today from 10:20 to 11:00 with the Licensing Administrator due to a provisional license being issued. The provider and two assistants were present with 13 children in care. The children were playing and some of the younger children were napping during the first part of the inspection. The provider has lots of supplies and space for the children in care. A violation notice was given to the provider with this inspection summary. Repeat Violation

Based on interview with the provider, the provider and assistants have failed to get training hours in areas relevant to job responsibilities.
Evidence: The provider and assistants have not taken any training hours since the provisional license was issued.
Plan of Correction: I have tried to sign up for classes with Fairfax County but they are always filled, I will try to find some other classes.
I have been taking English classes.
Standard 8VAC20-800-40-A
Based on observation during the inspection and interview with the provider, the provider failed to ensure that she did not exceed the capacity of her license.
Evidence: When the inspector arrived at 10:20 the provider stated that she had 12 children in care. Based on the physical plant inspection, 10 children were playing in the playroom and two younger children were asleep in the crib room. when the physical plant was inspected another child was found in a room usually not used for sleeping. The provider confirmed she had 13 children in care.
Plan of Correction: I will limit the children I care for to 12.

Based on the review of records, one file was not accessible to the inspector during the inspection.
Evidence: The provider had a drop in child in care, the child was previously in the providers care and her file is stored in the attic and could not be accessed during the inspection.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure I have the records available for the children I have in care
Standard 8VAC20-800-730-D
Based on the physical plant review, the provider failed to store medication for household members in a locked place.
Evidence: Medication for the provider was found on the kitchen hutch, accessible to children and not in a locked place.
Plan of Correction: I will remember to move medications to the lock box after I take them.
