Inspector Notes
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 11/12/2021 and concluded on 11/15/2021. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 29 children present with seven staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and three staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Violations
1Evidence: 1) A medication authorization, for a prescription medication, was observed for Child #5. The center had written authorization from the child's parent to administer the prescription medication, but the written authorization from the child's physician expired on May 31, 2021. The medication was still on site at the time of inspection.
2) During interview, a member of management acknowledged the child's guardian was not notified that the authorization was expired and that the medication has not been properly disposed of. When an authorization for medication expires, the parent shall be notified that the medication needs to be picked up within 14 days or the parent must renew the authorization. Medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days will be disposed of by the center by either dissolving the medication down the sink or flushing it down the toilet.
