Inspector Notes

An unannounced on-site monitoring inspection was conducted on 07/13/2022. There were 18 children, ages 3 months-2 years, and 8 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector observed the following: free choice activities, large motor play, nap and lunch. A total of 5 children?s records and 4 staff records, were reviewed. The inspector discussed the following with staff: attendance requirements, playground safety.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation of the infant room, the center failed to ensure all chemicals were locked.

Evidence:
1.The inspector observed two containers of chemicals sitting on the counter that was accessible to the walking and mobile toddlers in the classroom.
Plan of Correction: The staff locked the chemicals during the inspection and will ensure that they are locked when not in use.

Based on observation of the upper classroom, the center failed to ensure that all staff to child ratio was met.

Evidence:
1.Observed 18 children ages 4-8 year old's with one staff person. The required ratio is one staff person for 10 children.
Plan of Correction: A staff person was on vacation and made the ratio off. The director is currently hiring for additional staff.
