Inspector Notes

Today an unannounced Monitoring Inspection took place between the hours of 9:40am and 11:40am. There was a total of 32 children with 9 staff and 3 co-op parents. The children were observed playing outside on the playground, singing songs during a transition, doing yoga poses, and eating snack. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff/co-op parent records, medications, evacuation drill log, and emergency materials were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today's inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during the inspection. Standard 8VAC20-780-270-A
Based on observation, the center did not ensure areas and equipment of the center outside, shall be maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition.

Evidence:
#1- A wooden teeter totter toy on the playground had areas of splintering wood.
#2- A piece of wood located around the window of a playhouse had splintering wood.
#3- Pieces of the floor on a secondary playhouse had splintering and broken pieces of wood.
#4- A log bench had areas of splintering wood at the end.
Plan of Correction: A playground clean-up and jobs including sanding/replacing boards will be completed at the end of the school year. Additional restoring jobs will be completed over the summer to get ready for the new school year.

Based on observation, the center did not ensure that food brought from home was properly dated.

Evidence:
Eight food containers brought from home in the Frogs class were observed to not be dated.
Plan of Correction: Tape will be used starting tomorrow to properly date the food brought in from home.
