Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 05/004/2022 between the hours of approximately 11:20 am and 12:30 pm. There were 10 children present, ranging in ages from 3 months to 3 years, with 3 staff supervising.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 child records and 2 staff/household records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-800-120-B
Based on documentation review, staff's records did not contain all required information.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the record for Staff #1 did not contain documentation that that two or more references as to character and reputation as well as competency were checked before employment.
Plan of Correction: I had verified the competency of the staff but didn't document it. Will add the document asap.
Standard 8VAC20-800-830-A
Based on documentation review, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly.
Evidence:
1) On the date of inspection, the 2021 emergency drills log provided for review, did not have an evacuation (fire) drill documented for the month of December 2021.
Plan of Correction: We had to close unexpectedly due to Covid in the month of December for more than 2 weeks. In future will remember to document before we close.
Standard 8VAC20-820-120-E-2
Based on review of required posted documents, the provider did not ensure that all required documents related to the terms of the license were posted on the premises of the family day home.
Evidence
1) On the date of inspection, the findings of the most recent inspection of the facility (11/2021) were not posted. The findings posted were dated 05/17/2021.
Plan of Correction: I will make sure to print and post the most recent one.
