Inspector Notes

Unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the provider on July 27, 2023, beginning at 9:35am and ending at 10:43am. There was one child, age 4 years old, in the care of the provider for a total of 2 points. The child was observed playing with cars. Three children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. The provider?s record was reviewed and in compliance. Three household member records were reviewed. The emergency escape plan was reviewed. The provider has current certification in CPR and First Aid certification. The provider does not administer medication and is aware that Medication Administration Training (MAT) is required to do so. The first aid kit, flashlight, and battery-operated radio were observed. The most recent practice emergency evacuation drill was documented as 7/10/2023. The most recent practice shelter-in-place drill was documented as 6/5/2023.

Standard 8VAC20-800-180-A
Based on a review of documentation and provider interview, the provider did not obtain subsequential tuberculosis screening for all adult household members, in accordance with the requirements in 8VAC20-800-170, every two years from the date of the first screening or more frequently as recommended by a physician or the local health department. Evidence: Household member A?s most recent tuberculosis screening was dated 11/1/2020.
Plan of Correction: The provider will have the household member complete an updated tuberculosis screening and the documentation will placed in their record.
Standard 8VAC20-800-210-A
Based on a review of documentation and provider interview, the provider did not caregivers obtain a minimum of sixteen clock hours of training annually in areas relevant to their job responsibilities. Evidence: The provider completed six annual training hours; ten training hours were not completed.
Plan of Correction: Moving forward the provider will ensure that 16 hours of annual training are completed and documentation is placed in the provider's record.
Standard 8VAC20-800-690-D
Based on observations, the provider did not ensure that the diapering surface was nonabsorbent. Evidence: The diapering pad had scratches and small tears making the diapering surface absorbent.
Plan of Correction: The provider will purchase a new changing pad to replace the current one.
