Inspector Notes
Conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection at 9:50am. Observed 89 children + 28 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed arriving playing with toys, coloring, washing hands, eating snack, having circle-time, learning rhyming words, counting numbers and participating in a variety of holiday activities to include wearing holiday pajamas to school, gift giving and eating a variety of holiday snacks. Infants were napping, having play time on the floor and being held. The program areas were found to be clean and well supplied with toys and equipment for the children. Areas of non-compliance with standards and laws reviewed were found. Questions about this inspection may be directed to pamela.sneed@doe.virginia.gov

Violations
5Based on records reviewed, 3 of 12 staff records did not include a completed child abuse and neglect central registry search by the end of the staff person's 30th day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #5-There was no documentation of a completed central registry search. The staff person began employment in January 2022.
2. Staff #8-There was no documentation of a completed central registry search. The staff person began employment in September 2021.
3. Staff #11-There was no documentation of a completed central registry search. The staff person began employment in August 2023.
Based on observations made, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place that prevents access by children in one classroom. Evidence: In a 2-3 year-old classroom a spray bottle of bleach and water solution was found in an unlocked cabinet.
