Areas and equipment of the center, inside and outside, shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. There was peeling paint on multiple walls of the toddler room. The two and three year old room had an unlocked drawer with plastic bags that were accessible to children creating a potential suffocation hazard.

Our maintenance team has already been scheduled to come out and fix the chipped paint. All bags have been discarded/locked, and we held a meeting with all staff of proper safety protocol.

Hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. The two year and three year old room had a bottle of hand sanitizer in a cabinet. The items had the warning label, ?Keep out of reach of children? and were unlocked within reach of children.

The staff-to-child ratio for children ages 3 years to school age eligible whenever children are in care is one staff for every ten children. On February 25, 2026, the pre-k to kindergarten room ratio was 1 staff and 19 for approximately five minutes.

An assistant stepped out of the classroom for a quick bathroom break. In the future, we will ensure that we have an extra staff member to replace when someone needs to step out of the room.
