Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on December 16, 2021 and concluded on December 20, 2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were nine children present, ranging in ages from 15 months to 11 years, with two staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and two staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations

1
Standard 8VAC20-800-280
Based on observation and interview, the provider did not ensure potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, and deodorizers were stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.

Evidence:

During the virtual video call, the provider put in view the unlocked hall closet where cleaning materials were being storied. Two items of cleaning material were located on a low shelf in reach of children in care. The provider confirmed the cleaning materials were on the lower shelf.
Plan of Correction: Per the provider, I will move the cleaning item to the top shelf now and put a child safety latch on the closet door.
