Inspector Notes

A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted May 1, 2023. There was a total of 16 children present with three staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations.
Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Based on review of four staff records, the center did not ensure all staff who work directly with children obtain current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment.

Evidence:

1. The record of staff #1, employed 11/21/2022, did not contain documentation of CPR certification. The director stated staff #1 did not have CPR certification.
2. The record of staff #2 and staff #3, both contained documentation of CPR certification that expired 04/02/2021. The director stated the two staff members had not renewed their certification in CPR.
Plan of Correction: Per the director: I will schedule a class to renew staff's CPR.
