Inspector Notes

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 09/28/2022 from 12:35 pm - 2:00 pm. At the time of the tour there were 36 children in care with 6 staff. The preschool children were observed during nap and the school age children were observed during arrival from public school. After arrival the school age class was observed engaged in homework and table games in the school age classroom.
Records reviewed for three children and four staff.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance in the area of building maintenance. This violation has been documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that areas of the center shall be maintained in a safe condition.

Evidence:
1. A slim line box cutter was observed stored inside of an unlocked drawer of the kitchenette in the four-year old classroom.
a. The blade was in the secure/ safety position however, this drawer is accessible to the children in care.
Plan of Correction: The box cutter was removed during the inspection.
Administrative staff stated that the usual practice was for these items to be locked up. Administrative staff stated these type of items will remain in a locked location going forward.
