Inspector Notes

An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 8:45 am-10:00am. There were 10 children directly supervised by 2 caregivers. The home, 2 staff records, 4 children?s records, household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. There were no medications on site today. Children were observed playing freely with table toys, pegs and mats, puzzles and coloring. Diapering procedures were also observed. There was an ample supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard 8VAC20-800-430-A
Based upon observation, children under two years of age had access to stairs.
Evidence: The new play loft in the backyard did not prevent access to the stairs leading to the upper level by children under 2 years of age.
Plan of Correction: I will install a gate.
Standard 8VAC20-800-680-A
Based upon observation, caregiver did not wash their hands after diaper change as required.

Evidence:
Caregiver was observed changing a child's diaper and throwing away diaper but did not wash hands with soap and water after.
Plan of Correction: I will remind her to wash her hands. She always does. I think it was just hectic this morning.

Based upon record review, required documentation was not maintained.
Evidence: There was no documentation of required emergency evacuation drill for 4/2023.
Plan of Correction: We did the drill and forgot to write it down. We will do that now.
