Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A renewal inspection was conducted on 4/7/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 12 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 3 staff and household records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Kara Wright at kara.wright@dss.virginia.gov or 703-537-6241.

Based on record review and provider statement, emergency evacuation procedures were not practiced monthly with all caregivers and children in care during all shifts that children are in care.
Evidence:
The written log of evacuation drills did not contain a record of drills for February or March of 2021. The provider confirmed that they were not conducted.
Plan of Correction: Due diligence will be excised in conducting and logging fire drills every month. Shelter in place drill was in the accepted time frame.
