Inspector Notes

An unannounced, on-site monitoring inspection was initiated on July 31, 2024 and completed on July 31, 2024. The on-site inspection began at 12:40pm and ended at 2:20pm. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas listed above. There were 34 children present and seven staff.
The inspector reviewed five children?s records and five staff records on-site. This inspection included document review, tour of the facility, interviews, and observations.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law, and violations are documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 22.1-289.035-B-2
Providers must obtain a completed national criminal background check prior to the employee's first day of employment.

The national criminal background check for Staff #4 was obtained two days after the employee's first day of employment.
Plan of Correction: Corrected. The center has since implemented measures to ensure all employees and prospective employees of the St. Peter Baptist Church Child Development Center must pass the mandated background check, the finger-print national criminal background check prior to employment.

The center is required to obtain background checks from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.

Staff #4, employed for more than one year, did not have documentation of requesting a central registry check or a sex offender registry check from a state in which the individual
resided in the preceding five years.
Plan of Correction: In the future, the center will obtain the required out-of-state background checks for all prospective employees prior to employment.
