Inspector Notes

A monitoring inspection was conducted on March 28, 2023. There were 96 children present, with 21 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 8 staff records were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Standard 8VAC20-780-500-A
Based on observation, staff did not wash the child's hands or their own hands with warm running water and liquid soap after assisting a child with toileting.
Evidence
A diaper change was observed in the Infant 1 classroom. After the diaper change staff did not wash their own hands or the child's hands with warm water and liquid soap.
Plan of Correction: We already spoke to staff to ensure all hands will be washed properly after a diaper change.
Standard 8VAC20-780-500-B
Based on observation, after a diaper change, the diapering surface was not cleaned with soap and water.
Evidence
In the Infant 1 classroom after a diaper change, staff was observed sanitizing the diapering surface, but not cleaning it first.
Plan of Correction: We already spoke to staff to ensure they understand the proper procedure of cleaning and sanitizing the diapering surface. Spray with soap and water, pat dry, spray with bleach and water and air dry.
Standard 8VAC20-780-520-A
Based on observation, over the counter skin products were kept beyond the expiration date of the product.
Evidence
In the Toddler classroom, three sunscreens were kept beyond their expiration date.
Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection, lotions were disposed of.
