Inspector Notes

An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated on 4/22/24 from 10:40 a.m. to 1:40 p.m., in response to a complaint received by the licensing office regarding care, protection and guidance, active supervision, hazardous substances, handwashing, and a forbidden action. Interviews were conducted and documentation was reviewed. The preponderance of evidence supports the allegation of handwashing. The allegations regarding care, protection and guidance, hazardous substances, and forbidden actions were unable to be substantiated due to insufficient corroborating evidence. If you have any questions, contact the licensing inspector, Beth Velke at beth.velke@doe.virginia.gov or call 804-629-8302.

Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by 5 p.m. on 5/24/24.

Based on interviews with staff, the center failed to ensure that all children wash their hands with soap and running water after toileting and any contact with feces or urine.

Evidence: An interview with staff revealed that staff in the infant classroom did not always wash the children?s hands after changing their diapers.
Plan of Correction: Infant staff has been retrained on handwashing of babies post diaper changes and has put this into consistent practice.
