Inspector Notes

An onsite code compliance inspection was conducted October 23, 2023. The inspection was initiated at approximately 10:00 AM and concluded at approximately 12:30 PM. There were 15 children present, ranging from six months to five years of age, with five staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, and medication. A total of five children's records and four staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law, and violations were not documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 22.1-289.031-B-1
Based on observation, the center did not establish and implement procedures for hand washing by staff and children after diapering.
Evidence:
A staff member in the Infants? classroom was observed changing a child?s diaper. After the diaper change, the staff member did not wash the child?s hand. The child was placed back on the floor to play.

Based on the review of five children's records, documentation and interview, the center did not establish and implement procedures to ensuring that two children in the center are in compliance with the provisions of ? 32.1-46 regarding the immunization of children against certain diseases.
Evidence:
1. The records for Child #3 (first day of attendance 08/15/2023) did not have documentation of immunizations.
2. The parent handbook stated ?immunizations must be on file by the first date the child attends the center.
3. Staff #4 confirmed this information during the inspection.
