Violations
2When questioned regarding children with emergency medications, staff 2 stated that there were two children in her care with medication when there were actually three additional children with medication. Staff 2 stated that medication for only child 9 was taken on today's swimming trip.
Immediate action was taken to revamp the storage of children's medications to be immediately accessible to staff both in the classrooms and on field trips. Medication and the required authorizations and instructions were placed in the locked staff emergency bags to be kept by staff in the presence of the children both in classrooms and on trips off premises.
Spreadsheets of all children with medication were created for each classroom and will be reviewed with all staff to ensure that all staff are aware of any child in their care who may need emergency medication.
Any additional medication procedure training of staff will be conducted and documented.
All children's records will be reviewed to ensure that there is complete information regarding each child's parents and/or custodians.
