Inspector Notes

This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program.

A monitoring inspection was initiated on March 7, 2022 and concluded on March 8, 2022. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 27 children present, ranging in ages from 5 to 11, with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard 8VAC20-780-280-B
Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: On the table accessible to children there were two containers of hand sanitizers both labeled "keep out of reach of children" and at least one of the other statements "warning", "hazardous" and "flammable".
Plan of Correction: Hand sanitizer has been removed form the parent table . It will be kept in the staff office from now on unless being supervised by staff.

Based on observation and staff interviews, the licensee did not ensure to have all required nonmedical emergency supplies.

Evidence: There was not a battery operated radio available for review duking the inspection.
Plan of Correction: The correct batteries has been purchased and put in the radio. The radio now works using batteries.
