8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Child Day Centers

A Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted on 02/08/2024 from 11:00am to 1:15pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 11 children ages 3 years old to age 5 years old supervised by 2 staff and 1 volunteer. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, attendance, menus, 3 staff records, 3 children?s records, 1 medication with corresponding authorization records, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. Children were observed participating in free play, reading, literacy activities, art, nap and lunch. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), CPR and First Aid, and Daily Health Observation (DHO) training.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
